BirdFrame — AI-powered bird photo framing for macOS
Last Updated: September 10, 2026Bird detection and cropping run locally using models bundled with the app. BirdFrame reads the Photos albums or folders you choose. Photos edits preserve the original; folder exports create new JPEGs. Saved projects and crop settings remain on your Mac. Apple's own iCloud Photos syncing is controlled by your Apple settings.
If you choose Share usage data, a configured analytics-enabled version of BirdFrame sends a limited set of usage events to PostHog to help us improve the product. Choosing Not now or skipping the welcome leaves analytics off. The same features remain available either way.
Current status: Analytics transmission is disabled in the current pre-release build. A saved preference alone does not send data. We will complete the hosting, retention and deletion arrangements described below before enabling collection.
Never included in usage events: Photos, thumbnails, screen recordings, filenames, folder paths, album names, Photos identifiers, photo metadata or GPS coordinates, search text, payment details, purchase receipts, or raw error messages. We do not record sessions, automatically capture arbitrary clicks, sell usage data, or use it for targeted advertising.
PostHog receives events over HTTPS as our analytics provider. We request no person profile or IP-based location enrichment. Like any internet service, PostHog receives the connection's IP address and may process network/security logs; disabling location enrichment does not remove that network metadata. See PostHog's privacy policy. Our project hosting region and applicable provider safeguards will be confirmed and disclosed here before analytics is enabled.
Change your choice at any time in Settings → General → Privacy → Share usage data. Turning it off stops new collection, cancels pending requests, and removes the local analytics identifier. Events are not stored on disk for later analytics upload. Activity from before your consent is not uploaded retrospectively.
Turning analytics off does not automatically delete events already delivered to PostHog. Contact samuelleecong@gmail.com to request access or deletion. Because we do not collect your name or email with usage events, we may need an analytics reference to locate them; we cannot promise to identify records from your email address alone. A usable reference/deletion workflow must be in place before collection is enabled.
No analytics records are currently transmitted. Before enabling analytics, we will configure and verify a maximum retention period of 90 days for raw usage events, publish the hosting region, and establish a way to process deletion requests. Aggregate statistics that cannot reasonably be linked back to an installation may be retained longer. Access to collected usage data will be limited to product improvement and operation of the analytics service. Provider processing must be covered by appropriate data-protection terms.
Your local photos and projects remain until you remove them through the app or your Mac. If you email support, the message and any information you choose to include are received by the support mailbox and used to respond. Avoid including photos or personal files unless you intend to share them.
The one-time paid unlock and Restore Purchase use Apple's App Store and StoreKit. No separate BirdFrame account is required. Apple processes payment information. BirdFrame uses verified purchase information to determine access; it does not send receipts, transaction identifiers, Apple Account details, or payment details to PostHog. If you consent to analytics, general purchase outcomes and free/paid status may be collected as described above. See Apple's privacy policy.
BirdFrame is a general-audience photo utility, not a service directed at children. We do not knowingly collect analytics from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact us so we can investigate and address it.
We update the date on this page when the policy changes. Material changes to collection will be explained before they take effect, with consent requested where needed. Photo processing does not depend on agreeing to analytics.
