I'm Samuel Lee, the developer of herbie, an iOS app that helps you manage screen time and build healthier digital habits. This privacy policy explains how I collect, use, and protect your information.

What You Provide

• Onboarding responses: Your goals, usage patterns, and preferences you share during setup
• Optional profile info: Email address, username, age, gender (if you choose to provide them)
• App preferences: Block schedules, selected apps to monitor, bedtime/wake times
• Feedback: Ratings and comments you submit within the app

What's Automatically Collected

• Device info: iOS version, device model (for compatibility)
• App usage: Which features you use and activity recommendations you interact with
• Progress data: Streaks, blocking sessions, and break usage patterns

Anonymous Usage Analytics

I collect anonymous behavioral data to improve app functionality using PostHog analytics:

• App navigation: Which screens you visit and buttons you tap
• Feature usage: How you interact with blocking schedules, recommendations, and onboarding
• Performance metrics: App crashes, loading times, and completion rates
• No personal data: This analytics data contains no names, emails, or identifiable information

Analytics data is processed by PostHog and helps me understand how to make herbie more effective for digital wellness.

Screen Time Integration

herbie uses Apple's Screen Time API to:

• Access usage data only for apps you select to monitor
• Block selected apps during your scheduled times
• All Screen Time data processing follows Apple's privacy guidelines

How I Use Your Information

I use your data to:

• Provide core app functionality (blocking, recommendations, progress tracking)
• Personalize your experience based on your preferences
• Improve the app and develop new features
• Provide technical support when needed

Data Storage & Security

On Your Device: Most data stays on your iPhone using secure iOS storage.

Cloud Sync: I use Supabase (a secure backend service) to sync your data across devices. Your data is:

• Transmitted using encrypted connections (HTTPS)
• Stored securely in the cloud
• Associated with an anonymous ID (not your personal information)

Data Sharing

I do not sell your personal data. I may share information only when:

• You give explicit consent
• Required by law
• Necessary for app functionality (like cloud storage through Supabase)
• For anonymous analytics processing through PostHog
• In anonymized form for research purposes

Your Rights

You can:

• Access your data by contacting me
• Delete your account and data at any time
• Update your preferences within the app
• Contact me with privacy questions or concerns

Important Notes

• Children: herbie is not intended for users under 13
• Data deletion: Delete the app to remove local data; contact me to delete cloud data
• Policy changes: I'll notify you of significant updates through the app
